What is NEET
The National Eligibility cum
Entrance Test (NEET), formerly known as the All-India Pre-Medical Test, is an all-India
pre-medical entrance test conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for
students who aspires for medical (MBBS), dental (BDS) and equivalent AYUSH
(BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, etc.), Veterinary and other medical/paramedical courses in
India. The purpose of this entrance test is to admit students in undergraduate
medical courses in government owned colleges and in privately owned colleges.
The course is offered annually
and is the sole entrance test for medical admission in multiple Indian
languages including Assamese, Gujarati, Bengali and other prominent native
languages. In 2021, the NEET exam will be held at around 150+ test centers in the
country. With the approx. sixteen lakh students, the entrance test is the most
important medical entrance test in the country for undergraduate admissions.
The NEET 2021 Registration forms are expected to be released soon i.e. in the
mid of February 2021.
With all the speculations going
on in students mind, it is expected that the NEET 2021 can be announced in the
month of February. Also, according to the regular schedule of NEET it is also
expected that the NEET 2021 exam may take place in the last week of June after
the board exam concludes.

What is NEW?
Starting from 2021, the NEET (National
Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test) will be conducted twice a year as the Union
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has given nod for this, surfacing the way
for the examinations to be conducted twice annually. However, it is still to be
finalized.
NEET, usually conducts the
entrance test in the month of may but due to the Covid-19 pandemic
restrictions, it was pushed to September in 2020 amid stringent precautions.

Age Limit:
- The minimum age of a students on December 31, 2021,
should be 17 years.
- The rule specifying the maximum age limit of the candidate was challenged last year in the court of law. There is no upper age limit as of now and students older than 25 years of age applying for NEET 2021 will be provisionally admitted subject to the ruling of the honorable Delhi High Court.
Minimum qualification:
- The Candidate must have cleared Class 12 or
equivalent from a recognized institute.
- The Students who are appearing for Class 12 or
equivalent in summer 2021 can also apply for NEET 2021.
- The Students who have completed Class 12 or equivalent from an open school are also eligible.
Mandatory Subjects:
- The student must have cleared Class 12 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- The Students who have passed Class 12 or equivalent with Biology as an additional subject are also eligible.
Minimum marks required in the qualifying examination:
- For General category: 50 percent.
- For PWD category: 45 percent.
- For SC/ST/OBC: 40 percent.
NEET 2021 application fee:
The application fee had to be paid
online. It could be paid using a credit card/ debit card/ net banking/
e-challan/ Unified Payment Interface.

Counselling for NEET 2021:
The Counselling will begin from
the last week of June. Candidates must note that the admission process through
NEET 2021 will be carried out in the following phases:
- The National-level counselling for admission to MBBS
and BDS courses, which will be conducted by the Medical Counselling
Committee.
- The State-level counselling for admission to MBBS and
BDS courses, which will be conducted by various representatives of the
state governments.
- The AYUSH counselling which will be conducted
for admission to BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, etc.
Students who wish to participate
in the NEET 2021 counselling process are advised to keep themselves
abreast the events of the respective counselling.
Correction Window for NEET 2021:
The correction window for NEET
application form 2021 will be activated in the last week of February. Students
can use this opportunity to make the changes to their application forms. This
facility will be provided by NTA for students who wish to make changes to the
details filled in the application form.
