Faculties and Courses Offered
Clinical training is provided by the
Republic of Tatarstan's Ministry of Health's 54 units. There are 33 general
hospitals, outpatient departments, 21 polyclinics, maternity hospitals, dental
polyclinics, and other medical facilities in the area. There are approximately
9000 beds in all. There are 98 dental chairs at the KSMU dental polyclinic.
Students of the preventative medicine faculty are taught and trained at
Republican and 8 city centres of public healthcare with specialised departments
and laboratories. The pharmaceutical faculty uses 65 pharmacies with
laboratories in Republic Tatarstan, 18 pharmacies in Chuvashia, and certain
commercial pharmaceutical units to train its students.
In 1994, the Postgraduate Education faculty
was established. The faculty is now known as the retraining and specialisation
faculty. In 2003, the institution began offering English-medium courses. All
English medium lectures, practicals, laboratory studies, seminars, tests,
examinations, and state examinations are held in English. The language of
teaching for Russian students is Russian, however foreign students can select
between Russian and English medium. Every academic year begins on September
1st.
